Crime idioms

Hi guys,

Hope you had fun in the sun today.

As last week's theme was Crime and Punishment, here are six idioms linked to the topic of crime. Try to guess the meaning before clicking on the link to check your answers, then you can do the quiz!

I only paid 10 pound for my Gucci handbag. It was a steal!

Maria and Joan get on really well. They're as thick as thieves.

My daughter is so spoilt, we let her get away with murder.

John helped me to cheat in the last exam. He was my partner in crime.

I've got so much homework to hand in, but I'm not worried I'm on the case.

I'm not eating in that restuarant again. The mains were about 20 pounds each. That's daylight robbery!

Homework time!!

Hi guys, for homework rewrite this paragraph write commas in the correct place and change the adverbs to more suitable words.

While I was driving to work yesterday and eating a croissant a car flashed its lights at me. I decided to stop otherwise somebody was in trouble which was lucky because the car turned out to be an unmarked police car. The policeman told me that it was illegal to eat while I was driving. Providing I might have an accident. Apparently you are not allowed to eat drink or speak on your mobile phone supposing the car has stopped. The policeman said he would not fine me this time unless I agreed not to do it again. Unfortunately after driving for another few minutes the same policeman stopped me again and said “it’s illegal to drive without wearing a seat belt”

Gotta get thru this

Continuing our practice of get collocations, have a listen to Daniel Bedingfield's hit gotta get thru this. What do you think the phrase gotta get thru means?

"Gotta Get Thru This"

If only I could get through this
I get through this

I gotta get through this
I gotta get through this
I gotta make it, gonna make, gonna make it through
I'm gotta get through this
I gotta get through this
I gotta take my, gotta take my mind off you

Give me just a second and I'll be all right
Surely one more moment couldn't break my heart
Give me 'til tomorrow then I'll be okay
Just another day and then I'll hold you tight

When your love is pouring like the rain
I close my eyes and it's gone again
When will I get the chance to say I love you
I pretend that you're already mine
Then my heart ain't breaking every time
I look into your eyes
